In 1989, after three massive strokes due to cocaine and drug abuse, God finally got the attention of Karen Hardy. Following a miraculous healing through the power of Jesus Christ, from circumstances that doctors considered hopeless, Karen began a journey of servanthood and ministry that has become a life changing testimony to women and men with similar addictions. Her story has been published in the book “Free At Last” which is distributed throughout the world and she has had an opportunity to appear on 100 Huntley Street on three separate occasions.

Karen is a graduate of Saint Thomas University with an honours degree in Sociology, double major in Criminology and a minor in Psychology. She is also a graduate of St. Stephen’s University, Community Corrections Course. She has been awarded the Harold McCullagh Achievement Award as well as two years of intensive training by the John Howard Society of Saint John during which time she worked as the Manager/Director of the Youth Internship Program for the Hospitality Industry, as well as a short term in a group home for Young Offenders and a halfway house for Co-ed Adults. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Coverdale Centre and a token member of the Interfaith Committee.

For the past four years Karen has been the Community Chaplain for Women in Saint John, New Brunswick where she ministers to female offenders and their families, but has been actively involved in prison ministry for over fourteen years. She and her husband Dave reside in Tracy, New Brunswick along with their four beautiful daughters, Jennifer, Meaghan, Samantha and Lacie.
